The Barceló Buxton Palace Hotel was constructed in 1868 – the elegant exterior was designed by Henry Currey, who was the favoured architect of the Duke of Devonshire. The hotel is surrounded by the gorgeous scenery of the Peak District National Park, and has been the focal point of the local area for generations, with everyone wanting to stay there! It’s easy to see why: the hotel manages to combine the sense of character and heritage, with modern comforts and contemporary style.
This gorgeous area used to be known as The English Switzerland, because of the stunning scenery, lush countryside and gentle rolling hills. Of course, this is ideal country for exploring, either on foot, or by bicycle. For the thrill seekers the famous Alton Towers theme park is nearby, as is Buxton Opera House, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House.
The hotel has 122 bedrooms, including 4 Suites which are decorated to a high standard in a comfortable and modern style. There is also a generously sized car park available to residents for a small daily charge.
There is a health and leisure club offering a heated indoor swimming pool, as well as a modern gym, sauna, a steam room, solarium and a sunbed room so you can boost your tan. There are a number of other beauty treatments on offer too so you can really pamper yourself.
The luxurious Dovedale Restaurant offers a table d’hote menu cooked by the region’s leading chefs and is the ideal place to relax after an energetic day. If you are after something lighter, then snacks, light meals and gourmet sandwiches are available from the hotel lounge.
